Note: This wiki will be available at railscamp itself as well as on the ‘net now.
That’s right, we’re doing it again. If you’re new to Rails Camp, read on, or check out the Rails Camp History page.
We organise food and lodging, you bring your ideas and talent to share and inspire. This time around, we’ve booked Camp Kariong, a scout camp about 1 hour north of Sydney.
Each day we’ll put up sheets of butcher paper on the walls where you can write down details of what you’d like to discuss. We’ll follow this loose program throughout the day—much like a Bar Camp—with no firm schedule or compulsory sessions so you can spend your time hacking, participating in discussions, or doing whatever takes your fancy.
Anyone, no matter what your skill level is. However, you’ll get the most out of the weekend if you’re prepared to participate. Please don’t come expecting to be led or guided by others for the weekend, but come with the desire to discuss, teach, learn, or build something.
Camp Kariong is located on 100 acres in Brisbane Water National Park, approximately 1 hour north of Sydney. It accommodates up to 38 people in bunks plus room for others to either camp outdoors or sleep on the floor of the main hall.
In a first for rails camp, the bunks are located in a building separate from the dining and meeting halls. So, you should be able to sleep peacefully without being disturbed by the noise of those who want to keep hacking through the night.
Friday June 20th – Monday June 23rd, 2008. You can stay for as long or as little as you like.
We’re asking $100 per person to cover the cost of the accommodation, food (yes we’ll feed you!), and supplies such as butchers paper, pens, and powerboards to ensure that everyone can participate. This is a non-profit event. If we do happen to have a surplus by then end of the weekend, it will go towards the kitty for future Ruby or Rails user group meetings.
We’re sorry, but Rails Camp is now full. But rest assured we’ll do it again sometime in Summer.
